University, Troy Campus
Troy
University is one of
the largest universities in Alabama with over 27,000 students. Troy
University can be found approximately 60 locations, in 17 states, and
11 countries. Troy University formally Troy State’s main
campus is located approximately 30 miles southeast of Montgomery in the
city of Troy, Alabama. Troy University has more than 150 student
organizations and Circle K is proud to be one of them. With positive
support from students and terrific support from the faculty, the Troy
Kiwanis Club, and the community the club achieved the task of becoming
official in not a year, but within seven months. This
wouldn’t have been achieved without great leadership, and
great support from Dr. Sherry (Faculty), Donna Hicks (Kiwanis Advisor),
and the Troy Kiwanis Club. The Troy University Circle K club
became an official student organization on campus in January of 2006.
The club was chartered in February of 2006 in time for District
Convention in March. The club had 23 charter members and currently has
24 paid members serving the Troy campus and community. So far this year
the club has worked with collecting boxes for Operation Christmas
Child, collecting ink cartridges for Jean Dean RIF, assisting the
Children’s Miracle Network, and volunteering with the
Salvation Army. The Troy Kiwanis Club is home to Past
International Trustee Joel Williams and current Alabama District
Kiwanis Division 11 Lieutenant Governor, Larry Hicks. Currently the
Alabama District Capital Division Lieutenant Governor, T.J. Martin, is
a student at Troy University. We look forward to having more club
members serve in leadership positions.
