The University of South Alabama, the only major public institution of higher learning on the upper Gulf Coast, is located in Mobile. The university was created by an act of the Alabama State Legislature in May 1963. The University of South Alabama enrolls over 13,000 students and has more than 150 student organzations. On November 27, 2000, USA Circle K became one of the 150 organizations with the help and support of Shannon Stinson (Club President), Lindsey Kemp (Club Secretary), Barbara Shirvanian (Faculty Advisor), and Michael Kintz (Kiwanis Advisor). Today, USA Circle K thrives under the direction of Barbara Shirvanaian, who is still USA Circle K's Faculty Advisor. Recently, USA helped Spring Hill Circle K with their Penelope House Pantry Raid. USA Circle K hopes to become more aware and involved in local, district, and international events in the near future.
